Often asked

Sometimes there are still a few questions about a hiking trip with us that remain unanswered

  • Travel in a group! Do I like that and what will it be like?

We noticed that practically all of our guests "tick" pretty much the same and get along very well straight away. They will still be in contact later, meet or go hiking with us again. However, since we find enough space in the great outdoors, you can keep enough distance if necessary.

  • I am single and would like to do the hiking / trekking trip in Scotland, Ireland, England and Sweden on my own. Am I the only one among couples?

You might be surprised, but most of our guests are single travelers. But of course also couples or friends who travel together. Our experience has shown that the more colorful the group is, the more fun our hike together will be. The age groups are also quite different. On average, they range from 20 to 60. An 81-year-old participant has impressively demonstrated that you are as old as you feel.

  • I don't know if a walking tour in Scotland, Wales or Ireland is for me. Have never done this before, but I would be interested

Slow down your life - Speed up your mind! And it will be the same for you, because walking is our most original form of transportation. With a high and extremely healthy addiction potential! It is still deeply anchored in us. The evolution in us remembers with every step we take in the wild. It's our own pace.

  • What demands are made of me on a hiking trip?

Are you a passionate hiker? Do you prefer a leisurely pace instead of “racing through nature”? Do you want to use the breaks to explore nature? Then we have something in common: Because this is exactly the kind of hiking we prefer! For us, hiking in Scotland, Wales or Ireland is NOT a sporting event, but a hiking trip that should refresh the mind and body. We will reach our daily goal by 6 p.m. at the latest. You will have enough time to explore each village. You have time to relax. Can enjoy dinner. Even in the morning we let everything come up, just no stress. After enough time for breakfast, our hikes begin between 9.30 a.m. and 10 a.m., depending on the length of the day. Comfortable hiking, you should be able to say about it at the end of our hiking tour in Scotland, Ireland, England and Sweden. Average net walking time 4 to 5 hours. Altitude meters in one day: an average of 100 to 200, a maximum of 500.

  • Hiking or trekking trip. How do I make the right decision?

Our walking tours in Scotland, Ireland, England and Sweden bring you to a cozy B&B or hotel every evening. The convenient transport of luggage from accommodation to accommodation means that your backpack weight is reduced to a minimum during your daily hikes. All B & B's and hotels impress with their original and cozy character. The owners have really grown dear to us over the years and are happy when we keep coming back with guests.

  • What are my demands on a trekking trip in Scotland?

Trekking in Scotland is strenuous and is even more fun if you are in good physical shape. The shortest daily stages are 3.5 hours and the longer ones at 6:30 a.m. net walking time. The vertical meters go from 100 to 500, but sometimes up to 1,000. However, the daily kilometers are mostly shorter than on our hiking tours. The reward for the effort? Incredible landscapes, bizarre mountains and often more than 30km from the next "civilization".

  • Backpack weight - will I be able to carry this?

The following applies to our hiking tours: maximum comfort with minimum weight! Convenient luggage transport from accommodation to accommodation. You hike every day with your light daypack (approx. 3 to 5kg). The rest of your luggage is already waiting for you when we arrive in our new quarters.

  • Is the weather really always that bad in Scotland?

The Scots say, "If you don't like the weather - wait a minute!" Hours of rain or days of rain are hardly known in Scotland. And when it rains, you've never seen so many happy people as in Scotland. In general, the north is a little cooler but drier. And the west is warmer but a little wetter.

Why Scotland

If you've never been to the Scottish Highlands, an understandable question. Once you have been there, the only question that remains is: "When can I finally go back!"

  • Better than any app: The Scottish Highlands!

Diverse landscapes from hilly to rugged mountain ranges. Lands littered with heather and gnarled pine forests. Crystal clear water in the countless rivers and lakes. Fantastic places to let your soul dangle. A unique, sparkling clean air. And sometimes no signs of civilization or cell phone reception. Here everyone becomes a nature lover and comes home strengthened from the Highlands. This is how Peter Höher sees "his" Scottish highlands.

  • What is the Scottish Highlands? The mountains are not exactly high.

The altitude makes the difference! Almost all mountains can be seen from sea level. A "Bergerl" at 500 meters above sea level can take on impressive dimensions in Scotland.

  • Is Scotland worth a hiking / trekking trip at all?

Endless expanses - lonely landscapes - pure nature! Away from hiking - mass tourism and accessible in one day of arrival. National parks with more than 3,800 km² without civil roads - that's the Scottish Highlands.
